‘Failon Ngayon’ looks into deceptive Airline Promo Fare!

Air travel companies draw potential travelers with very cheap promo fares, but instead of paying less, people actually pay more than what is advertised because of their undeclared “hidden charges.”

This Saturday (Apr 21), Ted Failon will look into these allegedly deceptive travel promos criticized by travelers due to their unclear and misleading terms and conditions.

This year, 41 cases have so far been recorded against airline companies due to these promos, based on the study by the Civil Aeronautics Board (CAB). This number is more than half of the cases filed in 2011.

How is the government acting on this problem? How can people prevent traveling glitches brought about by these bogus promo fares?

Watch the full report of Ted Failon in “Failon Ngayon” (Apr 21) this Saturday at 4:30 p.m. on ABS-CBN.

  1. Flying with CEBU PACIFIC TRULY HORRIFIC.. my experienceS:

    1. Apr 20 (Fri) Manila to Boracay (Caticlan) Flt. 5J 893 – 0630 etd

My mom was third in line, 1 foreigner was being checked-in by James Anthony Yao, all of a sudden atleast 10 more fellow-foreigners (no breeding) flocked to the counter for check-in. The cebupac staff just accomodated them without any regard to those who were patiently waiting in line and his only excuse was that “they are on group check-in”. Then why the hell did they NOT line up accordingly? like any other check-in procedure, would he not spend time to check EACH person’s docs too???? Naturally, he incurred my wrath, my husband’s as well as my mom’s. All this time his equally pathetic manager was i guess went deaf to my shoutings.

    2. Apr 23 (Mon) Boracay (Caticlan) to Manila Flt. 5J 910 – 1410 etd

When we checked in at Caticlan airport, we were advised that our flight has been cancelled and we are to be diverted to Kalibo (flight etd delayed for 1 hour). I understand that they had to cancel our flight due to the weather conditions, the small planes are not safe to take with all the thick clouds hovering the Caticlan skies however, domestic flights cost difference between Kalibo and Caticlan is ~6K pesos, CebuPac to this hour has not advised whether they would be reimbursing the cost difference for my mom’s ticket.

    3. Apr 23 (Mon) Kalibo to Manila Flt. 5J 332 – 1530 actual etd

Once the seatbelt light went off, I called for the stewardess asking for the ham and cheese sandwich bec my 5 year-old daughter would like to have one. I called for her attention because I did not want to be “out of stock” again. Her reply to me was “Ma’am, mag-ro-roll out naman na kme, pag-order nyo na lang mamaya”. Of course, my daughter ran out of ham and cheese.. no apologies were given by that flight attendant.

    4. Apr 23 (Mon) Manila to Singapore Flt. 5J 807 – 2125 etd

Seat 15D was my hubby’s, he had to forfeit his return flight due to changes on his sched to which cebupac cannot accomodate (of course). I was seated at 15E, my daughter at 15F. CebuPac of course had to re-assign my hubby’s seat to another person when 15B and 15C seats across the aisle are empty. Only an airline who are trained at real customer service would have the common sense to leave my hubby’s seat empty.

I’ve already posted my complaint (focus on point 2) at http://www.cab.gov.ph, hopefully they will action and I’ve posted this in my FB account, so others would be aware and would know where to lodge their complaints.

    Thanks.

    Sincerely,
    Anthoniett Lisondra-Aguilar
