Philippine Standard Time (PST) is now in effect!

A new law setting the Philippine Standard Time (PST) has been signed by President Benigno S. Aquino III in a bid to promote punctuality and efficiency.

Republic Act (RA) No. 10535 seeks to synchronize all watches clocks in the country under the PST while setting penalties to government agencies and broadcast stations reporting the wrong time.

All national and local government offices shall display PST on their official time devices, including bundy clocks, in accordance with the official time being provided by the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) using its network time protocol, according to deputy presidential spokeswoman Abigail Valte.

“All government offices, agencies, instrumentalities, bureaus, shall now coordinate with the PAGASA once a month to synchronize official time pieces and devices,“ Valte added in a Palace press briefing.

People may adjust their watches to the correct time by checking the PST on the PAGASA website.

RA 10535 also provides funds of the installation, operation, and maintenance of synchronized time devices to be displayed in key public places.
