MANILA, Philippines –Many years have passed, but boy group Boyzone proved that they’re still as good as they were 20 years back.
The Irish-boy band celebrated their 20th year in the industry by having the “BZ 20 Tour,” and one of their stops is Manila. Their one-night concert happened on Tuesday, May 26, at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum.
It took them 18n years before they finally got back in Manila. Yet they made the long wait worth it with these four best moments in their “BZ 20 Tour.”
Tribute for Stephen
Even if you’re not an avid fan of the band, you’ll still get teary eyed withthe passing of former member Stephen Gately. He died in Oct. 10, 2009 due to congenital heart defect.
First there was an audio-visual presentation to the tune of their song “Give It All Away,” while photos of Stephen were being flashed.
Before performing the song “Everyday I Love You” with Stephen’s part played through a minus-one, the boys gave a touching message to their fans. Ronan Keating started with him admitting that being back in Asia without one of their members is “a bit difficult.”
“This is our first time back in the region (Asia) and everywhere we look, every place we went, every places that we went with Stephen. So in a way it was difficult. But on the other hand, it was fantastic and beautiful that we get to relieve those memories again. Because when the four of us were together we feel that he’s in the room, he’s on this stage tonight. So thank you for allowing us to come back and do this,” he said.
Selfie with fans
They may be in their late thirties and early forties, but the boys surely have caught up with the technology.
In this age of selfies, of course they have to give their fans the best selfies that they could get. Shane Lynch and Keith Duffy reached out to two of their fans’ phones and took a selfie.
One fan had a selfie of Ronan and Keith together on stage, while the other fan was tasked to post on social media the group’s selfie with the crowd that night.
Timeless love songs
Of course, the group’s timeless love songs will never be missed in the best moments of that night. You may not know the title of the song, but you’ll surely catch yourself singing their songs by heart.
The crowd would loudly cheer whenever they would play their greatest hits like “Picture of You,” “Baby Can I Hold You,” “Words,” “Everyday I Love You,” “When You Say Nothing at All” and “Love Me for a Reason.”
Add to that the cute and playful graphics on the big screen which is a plus vibe to their already romantic love songs.
No, they don’t have that full dance performance, but when they get carried away with the song you’ll never miss their “I’m-having-so-much-fun” dance moves. Ronan was even caught doing sexy moves while performing their new single “Ruby.”
Shane was the one who brought a lot of dance moves with him as if he never got tired of dancing from the one side of the stage to the other.
Missed Boyzone’s concert last night? Don’t worry, for they promised to be back with a new album to promote to their fans all over the world.
