After having built a solid showbiz career, TV host-actress Kris Aquino is determined to do the same in politics.

Kris, who comes from a family of prominent politicians including incumbent president Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III, plans to run as governor of her home province, Tarlac in the near future.

“I feel naman na bilang isang Aquino, whatever political career I would hope to have in the future, kailangan talaga magsimula sa Tarlac,” she told “TV Patrol” in a taped interview during her gift-giving activity in Tarlac on Dec. 14 with “Dalaw” leading man Diether Ocampo and friend Pokwang.

She may have asked her town mates, “Puwede na ba kong tumakbo sa 2013?” but Kris maintained that she will only run for public office when P-Noy steps down as leader in 2016. For now, until 2015, Kris is also bound by her contract with ABS-CBN.

Kris previously declared her political ambitions during an episode of “The Buzz” wherein she said she dreams of becoming the country’s vice president one day.

Apart from following in the footsteps of her father, former senator Benigno “Ninoy” Aquino, Jr., mother, former president Cory Aquino, and brother, the ever-controversial Kapamilya star also hopes to emulate Batangas governor and acclaimed actress Vilma Santos.

“Hindi ko nakakalimutan ‘yong sinabi ng mom ko na if there is anybody in showbiz na I should be emulating, it’s Ate Vi. Kasi pagkatapos ng napakagandang karera niya sa industriya natin, nakapagbigay naman siya ng magandang serbisyo. Una sa Lipa (as mayor) and then after sa Batangas,” she said in the same “TV Patrol” interview.

Aside from sharing her political plans of late, Kris revealed another pivotal instance that caused her marriage with estranged husband James Yap to crumble.

Even with a gag order issued by the court for both their camps, Kris divulged on “The Buzz” last Dec. 12 that she regrets having allowed James to go to Belo, the beauty clinic she endorses.

“Ako lang dapat. Sana hindi na sana siya nagpunta doon. Eh di okay kami,” said Kris, pertaining to James’ alleged affair with Hope Centeno, one of the receptionists at the Belo Medical Clinic, in 2007.

She intimated that a broken trust had repercussions on their marriage, which fell apart after five years.

“Any girl who went through a matter of trust being broken, hindi mo maibabalik kahit anong i-try mo talaga, lalo na kung ganun nabulgar sa buong mundo,” Kris said.

Kris and James seems to have put aside their marital predicaments as they are now on speaking terms. Although she blatantly said she will not invite James over for Noche Buena, she wished him well for his PBA game.

“I’m praying for him that he’ll make it to the semi finals para may laro siya ng [Dec.] 25-26 para makanood si Bimby sa kanya. Pinagpe-pray ko na makapasok sila sa semifinals kasi friends na kami,” she said in an interview during her gift-giving activity in Pasig City as aired on “24 Oras.”
