Christian Bale, the lead star of “The Dark Knight Rises” has expressed his “horror” upon learning of the shootings that occured on the screening of his movie in Colorado.

The suspect James Holmes opened fire at a midnight screening of the  film in Aurora on Friday morning, killing twelve people and injuring over 50 more.

This is what Bale said:

“Words cannot express the horror that I feel. I cannot begin to truly understand the pain and grief of the victims and their loved ones, but my heart goes out to them.”

Christian was interviewed from Paris – where he and the rest of the cast including Anne Hathaway and Joseph Gordon-Levitt  at the French premiere of the movie. However Warner Bros. decided to cancel the red carpet event after the shootings occurred in Colorado.
