“Eat Bulaga” host Jose Manalo faces new complain in court, this time by his daughter!

“Eat Bulaga” host Jose Manalo is being charged anew for alleged violation of Republic Act 9262 (Anti-Violence against Women and their Children) this time by his own daughter.

jose-manalo-236x300

After his estranged wife Annalyn Manalo’s complaint last year, Manalo’s 17-year-old daughter has filed a complaint against him before the Quezon City Prosecutor’s Office on Friday.

Manalo’s daughter, represented by her legal counsel Dennis Pangan, said in her six-page complaint that the comedian failed to provide financial support for his family, whom he allegedly abandoned on Jan. 6, 2012.

According to the complainant, Manalo’s failure to provide financial support forced her to stop schooling.

After the mediation proceedings at the Philippine Mediation Center in Quezon City held last October, Manalo was said to have agreed to send financial support for her daughter’s education.

The complainant revealed having enrolled herself at Raffles Design Institute. However, she claimed that Manalo didn’t give her and her mother his contact details assuring that he will have the payments sent directly to the school on time. After settling the initial dues, Manalo failed to pay the next installment due last Dec. 1, added the complainant.

Ryzza Mae Dizon “Ang Maliit goes Big-time” on the cover of YES!

Child wonder Ryzza Mae Dizon is on the spotlight on the cover of YES! Magazine‘s September 2013 issue!

yes-sep-ia

Ryzza started talking at eight months old and grew up to be quite a talker. Her determination to rise above their hardships pushed the pint-sized dreamer to join contests—from barangay kiddie pageants to Wiltime Bigtime toLittle Miss Philippines.

Her mother, Rizza Dizon, says that Ryzza cried a river when she did not make it to the elimination round of the 2012 Little Miss Philippines, and when she finally made it to the grand finals as a wildcard bet, she did not think that she would actually win, or that she would be a part of Eat Bulaga’s cast.

Initially, the people behind the noontime show didn’t have big plans for the talented tyke aside from allowing her to putter around on the set. But in only a few months, Ryzza was able to convince her bosses that she could be the next child wonder that they have been trying to groom since the days of Aiza Seguerra. Ryzza was given her own portion and more production numbers in Eat Bulaga. Then came along The Ryzza Mae Show, which made her the youngest and smallest talk show host around. Everybody is now in love with Aleng Maliit, and YES! fulfills its promise to let the public get to know her better in their latest issue.

The September issue of YES! Magazine also delves into the weight-loss success stories of known personalities likeJudy Ann SantosBea Alonzo, Carla Abellana, and Eugene Domingo.  There’s also a profile on Tom Rodriguez’s in the Pogi Series, and a special feature on Paolo Ballesteros’s ever-changing stellar looks.

The September 2013 issue of YES! Magazine is now available in newsstands, bookstores, convenience stores, and supermarkets nationwide. A digital edition of YES! is also available for download on your mobile device.

GMA 7 and TAPE Inc. admits lapses in handling child host Ryzza Mae Dizon!

In a meeting with MTRCB attended by  TAPE, Inc. president and CEO Antonio P. Tuviera and senior vice president-COO Malou Choa-Fagar, and GMA Network vice president for program management Jose Mari Abacan and legal counsel Jose Vener Ibarra to ensure a child-friendly programming.

The complain that Ryzza Mae Dizon’s dignity was violated were sighted  in the following instances:

  •  “Eat Bulaga”’s July 29 episode in which TV host Vic Sotto “spat juice on the face” of Ryzza Mae  in the segment called “Ang Joke Ko.”
  • Ryzza Mae Show’s August 14 episode where a contest winner called the child “landing bata ka.”

This is what the MTRCB said after the meeting last Thursday, Sept. 5:

“TAPE, Inc. and GMA Network acknowledged lapses in the scenes in question and agreed to enter into a three-month period of closer collaboration with the MTRCB to ensure child-friendly scenes involving child host Ryzza Mae Dizon.”

“Of great concern is determining who will deal with Ryzza Mae in her scenes and how, such that her dignity and well-being as a child are not violated.”

“Eat Bulaga” and “The Ryzza Mae Show” summoned by MTRCB “Violate the dignity of a child”!

The Movie and Television Review and Classification Board on Wednesday summoned “Eat Bulaga” and “The Ryzza Mae Show” producers to a mandatory conference over “scenes allegedly insensitive and unfriendly to children.”

The MTRCB, in a statement sent to media, said some scenes shown by the two programs “palpably violate the dignity of the child”.

The Board mentioned two episodes: “Eat Bulaga”’s July 29 episode in which TV host Vic Sotto “spat juice on the face of child actress-host Ryzza Mae Dizon” in the segment called “Ang Joke Ko.” Another was on the Ryzza Mae Show’s August 14 episode where a contest winner called the child “landing bata ka.”

MTRCB chair Eugenio “Toto” Villareal said.

“We want to emphasize that children between one (1) and eight (8) years old are not yet capable of critical judgment. They are easily impressionable and still incapable of processing a joke as such. We’re aware that it was just a joke, but kids watching the show don’t. They would think it’s OK to spit on another person’s face or to be spat on.”

MTRCB said the scene was “disturbing because Dizon was palpably exploited as she was ridiculed, humiliated and degraded by the act of the host. The scene not only palpably compromise the dignity of a child as a human being, it also does not promote any positive value or behavior among viewers, adults or children alike. Moreover, such scene may be deemed prejudicial to her development.”

Tape Inc. senior vice president and chief operating officer Malou Choa-Fagar said that they will cooperate and attend the meeting.

The MTRCB hoped for the “cooperation of all those concerned in finding out what caused these scenes, who are responsible therefore, and what immediate and concrete measures can be done so they do not happen again. Serious and urgent concern for the welfare of children, who are most vulnerable in media and entertainment.”
