From the same production company and director of hit romantic movies ‘Let The Love Begin’ and ‘One True Love’ comes another love story, starring one of the country’s biggest loveteams - Elmo Magalona and Julie Anne San Jose (otherwise known as JuliElmo) – in the movie that will make you fall in love all over again titled “Just One Summer.”

Synopsis:

The movie is all about a rich, rebellious boy spends the summer with his father who he has considered long dead and his mistress while waiting for the annulment of his father and his mother’s marriage. During his stay with his father during the summer, he meets a poor girl who is his childhood friend and is a scholar of whom her family is depending on however, she is holding in a secret with regards to the true state of her scholarship. The two meet and comfort each other amidst their problems and they fall for each other as time goes on and as they get to
know each other.

Daniel Cuaresma, Jr is a rich boy fresh from highschool. Dahil only son ng isang doktorang may-ari ng isang ospital sa Maynila, pangarap din niyang maging doktor. And he is close to reaching this dream, dahil natanggap siya sa isang med school abroad for college. Handa na ang lahat – his passport, visa, pati tutuluyan sa states. Isa na lang ang problema – ang parental consent. Wala pa kasing pirma ang daddy niya.

His dad has only one condition for Daniel before he signs – he wants his son to spend summer with him. Simple lang kung tutuusin. But not for Daniel. He hates his dad. He has hated him eversince he left their family and went back to the province to take care of his farm. Kaya naman spending time with his dad, during his last summer in the country, is the last thing on his mind. Pero wala siyang magawa. Kailangan niya ang pirma ng ama.

Si Beto naman, ang probinsyanang kababata ni Nyel, ay magka-college na rin. Unlike Nyel, her family doesn’t have all the finances dahil hindi naman sila mayaman. Kaya naman tuwang-tuwa ang tatay niyang si Berting nang malamang magiging scholar ito sa college, dahil makakabawas ng malaki sa gastusin. Ang problema – hindi talaga natanggap sa scholarship si Beto. At hindi niya alam kung paano sasabihin sa ama, kaya naman maghahanap siya ng paraan para makapag-ipon ng pang-tuition on her own. Dahil dito, lalapit siya kay Sir Dan, Sr, para bigyan siya ng trabaho sa farm. Kahit anong trabaho, willing siya, dahil laki naman siya sa farm.

Pero magugulat na lang si Beto dahil ang ibibigay sa kanyang trabaho ni Sir Dan ay ang bantayan ang anak nitong si Nyel, Jr. habang nasa probinsya. At first, matutuwa pa siya dahil long-time crush niya talaga ang kababatang ngayon lang ulit umuwi. Pero habang tumatagal, mahihirapan si Beto dahil masama ang ugali ni Nyel—not because he is really bad, but because he’s acting up, dahil nga galit siya sa ama. Mas ikakabwisit din ng lalaki na pinapabantayan pa siya kay Beto.

Dahil sa constant clash nilang dalawa, pareho silang malalayo sa mga goals nila. Halos ayaw na ni Beto makasama si Nyel. Pero kailangan niya ang trabaho para magkaron ng pang-tuition. Si Nyel naman, dahil sa mga nagagawa kay Beto, ay mapapagalitan pa ni Sir Dan, kaya lalong mapapatagal ang pagpirma sa consent.

But somewhere along the way, magbabago ang lahat. Magkakasundo sina Beto at Nyel…Pero kung kelan naman sila magiging okay, lalabas ang ibang problema. Malalaman ni Berting ang tungkol sa pagsisinungaling ni Beto. Si Nyel naman, magkakaroon ng confrontation with his father, and he soon discovers marami pa siyang hindi alam tungkol sa paghihiwalay ng mga magulang niya.

With everything that’s going on, will this summer still have a happy ending? This is the story of a wounded, teenage boy forced to spend time with the father he so hates…

A father who wants to reconnect with a son who has shut him out of his life…

And a clueless, provincial lass who will make it all a bit easier simply by being inlove and by being loved by the boy…

Character Description:

Daniel Cuaresma Jr. or Dani/Nyel (Elmo Magalona) – Rich and rebellious. Unhappy, but covers it up by keeping up a cool front. Galing probinsya pero sa Manila na nagbinata. Only child, kaya may pagka-spoiled. Minor but he smokes behind parent’s back, drinks with friends, and had been with a lot of girls. Mad at both parents dahil naghiwalay ang mga ito. Less friction lang with his mom dahil bukod sa dito siya lumaki, less strict din ito kesa sa dad niya. Tanggap na sa isang college abroad, making this summer his last one in the country. Has to endure this summer with his dad, dahil ito ang requirement para pumirma ito sa parental consent na kelangan ng school niya. Called Dan by his manila friends, called Nyel by the province people

Beto (Julie Anne San Jose) – A simple, provincial lass who recently graduated from high school. – matalino, mabait, ,matulungin… basically a good and obedient daughter. – only daughter, raised by her strict but loving dad and her cool lola. May pagka-idealistic when it comes to love. Ultimate wish niya mahanap ang isang tao na willing maghintay sa kanya hanggang ready na siya. Her summers are usually spent helping her father at the farm, and spending time teaching/playing for children at the church choir. Her usual summer is changed when her long-time crush, Nyel, comes home again ater a long time. Achiever naman, pero minsan, pakiramdam niya she is pressured to measure up to her dead mom.

Daniel Cuaresma Jr. (Joel Torre) – Dad of Daniel, Jr (Nyel) and owner of the DC farms – a fair and generous boss; loved, respected and highly regarded by the farm people because he loves and cares for them sincerely as well. Gustong-gusto niyang makasama ang anak bago ito umalis dahil gusto niyang ibalik ang dating closeness nila. Pakiramdam din niya, once na mag-states na si Nyel, lalo lang itong malalayo sa kanya. Hindi niya inakala na ganun pala kalaki ang galit sa kanya ng anak, kaya mahihirapan din siya sa pagsasama nila ni Nyel.

Irene Luna-Cuaresma (Alice Dixon) – Doktora na nanay ni Daniel, Jr. Career-oriented at successful sa field na pinili niya; hinahangaan ng mga kasamahan sa profession. Busy ang schedule dahil sa tawag ng trabaho, kaya halos hindi rin siya ang nagpalaki kay Nyel kundi ang yaya sa bahay. Ganunpaman, she loves her son so much even if she’s not touchy or ver vocal about it. Dahil goal oriented, papayag siya sa kagustuhan ni Dan, Sr na mag-summer si Nyel sa probinsya. In her mind, kung yun ang kailangan para makuha ang pirma para sa consent ni Nyel at sa annulment, then so be it. Gagawin ang dapat gawin para makuha ang resultang gustong makuha. Hindi rin niya alam that this summer would change the way she had always looked at her separation with Daniel.

Juliet (Cherry Pie Picache) – Ang kinakasama ngayon ni Daniel, Sr. Simple lang at laking probinsya din, very loving at understanding kay Sir Dan. Kakilala niya si Irene from years back, dahil sa probinsya rin nag-highschool si Irene bago ito naging successful sa Maynila. Ang totoo, hinahangaan niya si Irene kahit dati pa dahil nga maganda ito, matalino, popular. Para na rin siyang fan ng legal na asawa ni Daniel, Sr. Ninang din siya ni Beto. Hangga’t maari at hangga’t kaya niya, tutulungan niya sina Nyel at Dan na magkaayos, but she can only do so much dahil hindi naman siya totoong parte ng pamilya.

Berting (Buboy Garovillo) – Single dad to Beto. Magsasaka sa farm ni Daniel, Sr. Maaga niyang nabuntis ang asawa kaya pareho silang hindi nakapag-college. Namatay sa panganganak ang kanyang asawa, kaya sila na lang ni Beto ang naiwan. At si Lola Meding, ang nanay ng kanyang asawa. Achiever ang asawa niya noon, at malayo sana ang mararating kung hindi lang namatay kaagad. Ito ang dahilan kung bakit todo bantay siya sa anak na si Beto dahil ayaw niyang maulit kay Beto ang nangyari sa asawa niya. Gusto niyang matupad ni Beto ang mga pangarap niya. Close kay Beto at very vocal sa pagmamahal niya dito. Kaya naman magiging masakit sa kanya ang pagsisinungaling ni Beto tungkol sa scholarship.

Lola Meding (Gloria Romero) – Lola ni Beto; katuwang ni Berting sa pagpapalaki kay Beto. Siya ang tumatayong mother figure sa bahay nina Berting. Sa kanya nakukwento ni Beto ang mga bagay na hindi masabi sa ama, lalo na pag tungkol sa pag-ibig. Hindi siya kunsintidor, pero naiintindihan niya si Beto. Lalo pa at pinagdaanan na niya ito noon nung ma-inlove ang anak niya kay Berting. Kaya naman todo alalay din siya sa apo.
