Below are some excerpts from the interview:

On coming out as bipolar: “It’s not easy. I’m not the kind of person who likes to shout out my personal issues from the rooftops, but with my bipolar becoming public, I hope fellow sufferers will know it’s completely controllable. I hope I can help remove any stigma attached to it, and that those who don’t have it under control will seek help with all that is available to treat it.”

On how exercising helps her mentality: “I don’t have a trainer. Crazy, right? But I don’t need anyone to motivate me. I love exercise, even things like the elliptical and stretching. It really helps my mood too, which, with the bipolar thing, is important.” What she does: “I’m obsessed with hula-hooping. I do it for 20 minutes a day. I don’t use the old-fashioned hollow plastic kind we had when we were kids, but I discovered a new one at Danskin that’s smaller and weighted.”

On her closet at home: “I’m building a closet in my house now, and it’s like a dream. Racks on each side, a whole boudoir. I sit in there and watch CNN. Michael says one day I’m going to go in and never come out!”

Halle Berry is red hot on the cover of InStyle!

Halle Berry is red hot on the cover of InStyle Magazine’s November 2012 issue!

Below are some highlights from the interview:

On why she wants to move to France
“It’s the appeal of privacy and a greater sense of safety for Nahla. I don’t want her to grow up around the tabloids. Because we are followed all the time, she is starting to feel like she is somehow special, and of course she is, but I want her to understand that she’s special because of who she is, not because she was born into this celebrity blender.”

On her custody battle
“There is turbulence, bit this too shall pass.”

On her wedding plans:
“I do know it will be very small. I haven’t been to many weddings, but I went to one this weekend with 250 guests. I thought, Wow – so this is a wedding, huh? I’ve never had that, nor have I wanted that. I wasn’t even trying to catch the bouquet!”

On her fiance Olivier Martinez:
“When I first met Olivier, there wasn’t the initial ‘I’m in love!’ It was something that grew more gradually—and it feels more real because of that. [Marriage] is another one of those never-say-never things. I’m a hopeless romantic, and I won’t stop till I get it right!”

“He’s silly, a clown, and very much the life of the party, which is good for someone like me. Danny Downer … been there, done that. Now I like Louie Lightfoot!”

On aging in Hollywood:
“Throughout my career I have been talked out of things I wanted to do, and when I look back I think, I should have followed my instincts. I relied on others to guide me because I thought they knew better. But as I’ve gotten older, I’ve learned to trust myself. Don’t stress about your age or fight it. Appreciate the young women who look like you once did, but don’t strive to be like them. You’re moving into a new phase of your life—embrace it. That’s what I hope to do.”

On not being defined by her hairstyle:
“I think I am at my best when my hair is short. It’s easier to take care of and more of who I am. Women are conditioned to think we need long hair. I see that happening with my daughter. She is so in love with her hair right now. She says, ‘Look, Mommy—it’s so long!” As women, we think it defines us, and we learn that at a young age.”

Gwyenth Paltrow is on the cover of InStyle!

Gwyneth Paltrow is on the cover of  InStyle Magazine’s October 2012 issue!

Below are some excerpts from the interview:

Gwyneth turns 40 years old next week: “I’m taking stock and really looking at everything. I’m trying to accept myself. There’s a Rumi poem, “The Guest House,” about welcoming in all aspects of yourself: The dark, the light, the jealous, the happy. Let them all in. But know that you’re not defined by any single one of them. I’ve become much more serious after experiencing all the ups and downs of life—heartbreak, the death of people I love…These days I feel pretty grounded.”

Why she “works so hard” (LOL): “I’m hard on myself, so I’m working on shifting perspective toward self-acceptance, with all my flaws and weaknesses. The positive thing that drives me is a curiosity and momentum. The negative is a need to validate myself or feel special.”

On her kids: “When Apple was born, she had the hugest blue eyes. I looked into them, and she was looking at me, and I felt like, You are here to teach me everything. After [Moses] was born I had postpartum depression. It was a difficult time, and because of that I believe I have an extra empathy for him, and he for me.”

Goop readers: “Goop readers trust my taste and know that I know where to find cool stuff. A city guide is a fast and fun way for them to have access to where I actually eat, shop, get a manicure, and hang out.”

Her common interests with Chris Martin: “We laugh a lot, and at the same jokes,” says Paltrow. “We like the same music and we like to do the same things.”

Having more kids? “My brain says, ‘Oh, I think I’m done, the kids are so big now, and I don’t want to go back to changing diapers.’ But a part of me would love to have another. Of course, I’m old now!”

On plastic surgery: “I want to move my face because I’m supposed to convey emotion in my job. But I have wrinkles so I don’t know – I’m not going to say that I’ll never do anything, but I would always want to look like myself.”

Jessia Beil is on the cover of InStyle!

Jessica Biel is on the cover of InStyle Magazine’s August 2012 issue!

The ‘Total Recall’ actress looks gorgeous in a Ralph Lauren jacket and jeans, Harry Winston earrings and Gucci heels.

Below are some excerpts from the interview:

On her engagement ring:

“I had no say whatsoever [in the ring]. I don’t micromanage. He is fearless in his choices and has a real eye for design. And I’ll be honest: He has better taste than I do. When I walk out of the closet after getting dressed in the morning, I’ll go like this [turns palms upward as if to say, 'Well?'] And he goes like this [shakes his head no]. Then he picks again. It’s hilarious.”

Her advice for a happy relationship:

Biel says her advice for having a happy relationship is “letting go of the little stuff. You can’t let it get to you.” Plus, being with an inspiringperson is key to her happiness. “It is important to me to have a partner who is loving and fun – someone who inspires me,” she says. “And he must be a goodperson.”

On where she’ll raise her children:

“I would like those future little people to have the experience I had, in some capacity. It was fun. I love Colorado; I’ve always thought that could be a possibility for me.”

On knowledge gained from her parents:

“The best thing I learned from [my parents] is that you have to put your relationship first. You need to make time for your partner. It’s really easy to let that go by the wayside. It’s easy to say, ‘Hey, I’ll see you later. I love you.’ And you can’t do that.”

On making time for her man (and the other way around):

“Justin and I have a rule that we don’t let a certain amount of time go by without seeing each other, but it doesn’t always work. But from here on out, I want to participate in making smart choices for the relationship.”

On keeping some time for herself:

“In my earlier experiences with relationships, I was really vulnerable to somebody else’s personality, hobbies and way of life,” she says.

“But as I’ve gotten older, I’ve become proud of the traits that make me who I am. Maintaining my individuality is really important to me because otherwise I can easily slip into somebody else’s life. So I’m glad I’m getting better at it. It’s a process, but it’s getting simpler.”

Katie Holmes is on the cover of InStyle!

Katie Holmes opens up about how husband Tom Cruise keeps the romance alive, and how he’s “manly romantic” on the latest issue of InStyle Magazine!

Here are some highlights from the interview!

What’s a date night like with husband Tom Cruise?

“Two years ago he took me up on his P-51 Mustang, a fighter plane from World War II. He painted the words, ‘Kiss Me, Kate’ on the side,” Holmes says in the August issue of InStyle. “It feels like you’re on a bike in the sky. I thought, I’m either going to spend this whole flight totally freaked out or realize this is pretty thrilling.”

When you’re married to one of the world’s biggest movie stars, whom Holmes calls a “manly romantic,” life is bound to be exciting but also challenging when it comes to balancing careers and family.

On keeping the romance alive:

“In our family we have a policy: we make it work,” she says. “We Skype, and we try not to go for a week without seeing each other. We’re also very good at setting up camp wherever we go.”

On daughter Suri:

Wherever the couple goes, their 5-year-old daughter Suri is often in tow. The actress, who will next be seen in the horror film Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark, credits her daughter with enriching her performances.

“My work has changed for the better,” Holmes notes. “I have more to bring to a role.”

On having another baby:

While the recent rumors that Holmes was pregnant turned out to be untrue, the actress says she doesn’t feel pressure to give Suri a sibling.

“We already have a very big family; a full household with cousins who are over a lot, and she has her friends,” Holmes says. “My biggest thing is making sure she’s fully taken care of and doing well.”

Experimenting with fashion:

“I’m not afraid to try a new designer or do something trendy, but it has to look right on my body. You don’t want to look like a fashion victim!”

On the excitement of landing new roles:

“Every time I get a job I cry. It sounds hokey, but it’s a sparkly moment that reminds you you’re living your dream every day. No matter how many roles you get, it’s like, ‘Somebody thinks I can do it!’”

On acting like a ‘lady’:

“I always try to conduct myself in a ladylike manner. That was my mom’s advice to me before every school dance, and it’s really locked in.”
