Showbiz-Magazine Show H.O.T. TV to Replace Showbiz Central!

Beginning August 5, GMA Network will air its new showbiz-magazine program H.O.T. TV, which stands for “Hindi Ordinaryong Tsismis TV,” replacing the showbiz-oriented talk show Showbiz Central.

H.O.T. TV will be hosted by Asia’s Songbird Regine Velasquez-Alcasid, Protégé mentor and veteran comedian-host Roderick Paulate, and two of the current Showbiz Central hosts Raymond Gutierrez andJennylyn Mercado.

The new show’s format is different from Showbiz Central’s in that it will feature not only showbiz-related news but also human interest stories and extraordinary feats of ordinary people.

“Matagal po akong hindi nakagagawa ng ganitong show at I’m very excited na magawa itong H.O.T. TV. Magugustuhan niyo po to. Hindi ito yung karaniwan na lagi niyo nalang napapanood na tsismisan nalang nang tsismisan, no, may laman po ito. Siyempre pag sumali po ako gusto ko ay may maibibigay kami sa inyo, may matututunan din kayo at may mga bago kayong malalaman,” said Roderick.

Raymond Gutierrez, on the other hand, said that this is a new thing for him as a long-time host of a showbiz program since the new program covers a wider range of topics/subjects to be featured, not just entertainment.

“Kakaiba ‘to dahil hindi lang puro showbiz ang pag-uusapan namin, of course meron pa rin kaming entertainment news, aside from that lahat rin ng uso pag-uusapan dito,” he said.

H.O.T. TV premieres August 5 after Together Forever on GMA-7.

Only 20 will make it to Protégé!

The search for the next big Kapuso stars is now in full swing as GMA Network’s Protégé: The Battle For The Big Artista Break culminates its nationwide auditions with an overwhelming number of Pinoy hopefuls all over the country.

Protégé’s five esteemed celebrity mentors — Ricky Davao (North Luzon), Gina Alajar (South Luzon), Phillip Salvador (Mindanao), Jolina Magdangal (Visayas) and Roderick Paulate (National Capital Region) — scoured the islands of Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao to hunt for the best bunch of artista aspirants who will soon become the network’s fast-rising and bankable stars.

The mentors will not only share their professional guidance with their protégés in every rehearsal, workshop and intensive weekly test and training but also invest in their looks, and over-all packaging and showmanship in winning the judges and viewers’ votes.

Only 20 protégés will make the cut and move on to become the mentor’s four (two boys and two girls) potential protégés.

Helping the celebrity mentors in their selection throughout the extensive search in over 15 cities nationwide are the highly-respected audition directors — GMA Artist Center head for Talent Management Arsi Baltasar and veteran manager and star maker Joji Dingcong.

Two winners will be proclaimed at the finals night — one male protégé and one female protégé. At stake are P12M worth of cash prizes and a management contract with GMA 7.

Protégé’s formidable judges are Bert de Leon, Cherie Gil and Joey de Leon.

The reality search will be hosted by Dingdong Dantes and Carla Abellana. Dingdong will host the live Sunday gala night presentations while Carla will deliver the backstage drama and the emotional highs and lows in the life of every aspirant.

Jennylyn Mercado returns as the host of Inside Protégé — a 10-minute update which airs from Mondays to Saturdays — while Maxene Magalona is the Web Jock for the daily updates in Protégé Webisodes.

For aspirants who missed out on the series of auditions, Protégé has ongoing online auditions until July 13. Interested applicants can visit the website www.gmanetwork.com.

Who will stand out among the rest and survive the intense search? How far will they go to snatch the votes of the judges and the viewers now that at stake are big prizes for the ultimate winners?

Catch in August the supreme slate of artista hopefuls in Protégé: The Battle For The Big Artista Break.
