MMFF 2014: Day 1 Box-office results (Praybeyt Benjamin leads)!

According to MMFF chairman Francis Tolentino, Vice Ganda starrer “The Amazing Praybeyt Benjamin” is leading the Metro Manila Film Festival 2014 box office race on its first day of showing!

Tolentino, in an interview by ABS-CBN News, announced on Thursday afternoon that this year’s MMFF opening has surpassed last year’s record which is P128 million.

“Ang opening natin noong nakaraang taon ay P128 million. Ngayon po as of 3 p.m. ang tingin namin ay mahihigitan. Itong crowd kasi ngayon hindi alam na maaga ang bukas, may dadagsa pa. Ang tingin namin ay baka mahigitan pa ng 10 percent yung kinita noong nakaraang film festival,” he said.

Although the official box office figures are not yet released, Tolentino ranks the entries based on estimates:

2-3. “Feng Shui 2″ and “My Big Bossings’s Adventures”
4. “Kubot: The Aswang Chronicles”
5. “Shake Rattle and Roll XV”
6-7. “Bonifacio: Ang Unang Pangulo” and “English Only Please”
8. “Magnum Muslim .357″

The MMDA chairman promised to release the official opening day figures on December 26, 2014.

‘The Amazing Praybeyt Benjamin’ Movie Poster and Trailer Revealed!

“The Amazing Praybeyt Benjamin” starring Vice Ganda has just been released by Star Cinema and Viva Films for the Metro Manila Film Festival 2014 release!

In the film, Vice Ganda who plays the role of Benjamin “Benjie” Santos VIII, is asked to gain the trust of James “Bimby” Yap Jr.’s character since he’s the only one who knows how to dismantle the bomb that Jan Jaran Jan Jan (Tom Rodriguez) made.

The task also brought Benjie life realizations that makes him look back on how he became a successful soldier.

Vice Ganda’s leading man this time around is “Ser Chief” Richard Yap. Also starring in the movie are Tom Rodriguez, Al Tantay, Vandolph Quizon, Nikki Valdez, DJ Durano, Kean Cipriano, Ricky Rivero and Bimby Aquino-Yap. Introducing in the movie is Alex Gonzaga.

Directed by Wenn Deramas, “The Amazing Praybeyt Benjamin” is set to open in theaters nationwide on December 25, 2014.

“Bonifacio: Ang Unang Pangulo” movie trailer and poster revealed!

Metro Manila Film Festival 2014 entry Bonifacio: Ang Unang Pangulo gives life anew to one of the most iconic heroes in Philippine history.

Bonifacio: Ang Unang Pangulo is a historical action epic that brings to light the powerful, true-to-life story of Filipino revolutionary Andres Bonifacio (Robin Padilla)—one of our country’s national heroes—with his virtues and humanity, unfolding through the eyes of a young man (Daniel Padilla) in this day and age.

Fueled by his ardent passion for the country, its lead star Robin Padilla, vows that this is no ordinary action or historical film. Padilla admits that this film will be an eye-opener to the public particularly the youth.

Joining Padilla is an impressive line-up of cast that includes Vina Morales as Bonifacio’s wife, Oriang. Fans of the two stars are already looking forward to their exciting film reunion.

Also in the cast are Daniel Padilla, Jasmine Curtis Smith Eddie Garcia, Joem Bascon, Junjun Quintana, Cholo Barretto, Isabel Oli, RJ Padilla, Richard Quan, Ping Medina, Isko Moreno, Rommel Padilla, Dennis Marasigan and the special participation of Jericho Rosales as Jose Rizal.

Directed by Enzo Williams, the film also comprises some of the best talents in the film industry, including award-winning cinematographer Carlo Mendoza, renowned production designer Roy Lachica, musical scorer Von de Guzman, and Hollywood stunt director Sonny Sison.

Bonifacio: Ang Unang Pangulo is produced by Philippians Productions. It opens in cinemas nationwide on December 25.

Vic Sotto and Marian Rivera MMFF Movie starts shooting!

Vic Sotto has finally got Marian Rivera as his leading lady in the up-coming movie intended for the Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF)!

Vic has been wanting to get Marian as his leading lady, he thought that it would not be possible since Marian is an exclusive Regal bay for movies.

But Vic was glad that Regal matriarch Mother Lily gave in to his request after a long and tedious negotiations to let Marian to work with him in the up-coming movie.

The movie is another series of a Bossing movie with Ryzza Mae Dizon. And they already started their first shooting day.

And finally Marian Rivera will have a box-office movie when this movie will be shown, don’t you think?

The 8 Official Entries to the MMFF 2014 Revealed!

From 13 submitted entries, it’s now down to 8 movies to compete on this year’s Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) 2014.

The Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) gave a list of the eight (8) official entries for the 40th Metro Manila Film Festival 2014. Last week, the MMDA gave a partial list containing 13 film entries where only eight will be chosen.

“Praybeyt Benjamin – 2” in the works for MMFF 2014!

Vice Ganda will reprise his role for the box- office hit movie Praybeyt Benjamin Part 2!

The movie in the works has just been revealed by the director Wenn Deramas, who also helmed the first movie.

The movie will surely be a part of Metro Manila Film Festival 2014.

AiAi delas Alas and Vilma Santos movie in the works!

Star Cinema is already working for a new movie offering for the 2014 MMFF this early. They are already working on an AiAi delas Alas-Vilma Santos movie and they already have a director in the name of Wenn Deramas.

Gov. Vi already confirmed the news and she reveals that all is already set for the movie and they will start shooting in the middle of the year!

The title of the movie is yet to be revealed and so does their co-stars, but one thing is for sure this is another comedy movie.
