Jenni Rivera dies in a plane crash!

Latin singer Jenni Rivera is confirmed dead in a plane crash in Northern Mexico!

Jenni Rivera, 43, the California-born singer who rose through personal adversity to become a superstar adored by millions in a male-dominated genre of Mexican-American music.

The National Transportation Safety Board spokesman Keith Holloway says Mexican aviation authorities had confirmed Rivera’s death.

Jenni’s fans can still see her in action next spring in her debut movie role as an incarcerated mother in Filly Brown.

The film, screened at this year’s Sundance Film Festival, will come out as scheduled in April 2013.

R.I.P. Celso Ad Castillo, 69!

Movie director, scriptwriter and actor Celso Ad Castillo passed away early morning of Monday, November 26. He was 69.

Castillo’s brother John said the veteran director was rushed to Pakil General Hospital on early Monday after complaining of chest pain. However, he was declared dead on arrival. According to reports, he passed away around 1:45 am due to heart attack. His remains was brought by his family to their home in Sinuluan, Laguna.

Celso Ad Castillo was known as a director in “Burlesk Queen,” “Ang Pinakamagandang Hayop Sa Balat Ng Lupa” and “Patayin sa Sindak si Barbara.”

 

Marilou Diaz-Abaya succumbed to breast cancer!

Multi-awarded film director Marilou-Diaz-Abaya passed away Monday evening around 6:45 p.m., October 8, at St. Luke’s Hospital, Global City, Taguig City. She was 57.
 
She was survived by her husband Manolo Abaya and two sons David Abaya and singer-actor  Marc Abaya.

She is known to do 21 feature-length movies in over three decades. Some of those movies are the critically-acclaimed films – Brutal (1980), Moral (1982), Karnal (1983), Baby Tsina (1984), Kung Ako’y Iiwan Mo (1992), Ipaglaban Mo The Movie (1995), Milagros (1997), Sa Pusod Ng Dagat (1997), Jose Rizal (1998), Muro Ami (1999), and Bagong Buwan (2001). Her last movie is “Ikaw Ang Pag-ibig” shown in theaters last year 2011.

R.I.P. Anthony Sedlak, Canadian Celebrity Chef, 29!

Anthony Sedlak, the Canadian celebrity chef, has died at the age of 29.

Sedlak’s family released a statement Monday saying he collapsed from an undiagnosed medical condition and was found in his North Vancouver apartment Friday.

He was best-known as host of Food Network Canada’s show The Main, and a judge on Family Cook Off, as well as author of the bestseller cookbook, The Main.

 

Sedlak won a silver medal representing Canada at the World Junior Chef Challenge in New Zealand and the Food Network’s Superstar Chef Challenge at age 23.

He then went on to host his own show for four seasons.

Dolphy is dead at 83!

King of Comedy Dolphy succumbed to multiple organ failure after a five-year battle with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD)!

Dolphy, died on Tuesday night at around 8:34 pm. He was 83.

Makati Medical Center issued a statement of his death:

“We would like to inform the public that Mr. Rodolfo ‘Dolphy’ Quizon, passed away today, at 8:34 p.m. due to multiple organ failure, secondary to complications brought about by severe pneumonia, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and acute renal failure.”
“We join the entire Filipino Community in praying for the soul of Mr. Quizon and his dearly beloved family and friends. To the Quizon Family, we extend our deepest condolences”

His remains have been brought to the Heritage Park in Taguig, and will be brought later to ABS-CBN!

Mario O’Hara succumb to leukemia!

Award-winning film director and Zamboanga native Mario O’ Hara passed away on Tuesday morning. He was 68.

The director died in San Juan de Dios hospital due to acute leukemia and its complications.

Aside from being a director, was also a film producer, screenwriter and actor.

He collaborated with director Lino Brocka in many award-winning films, including “Insiang” and “Tinimbang Ka Ngunit Kulang.”

Angelo Castro, Jr. died of cancer!

Angelo Castro Jr., veteran broadcast journalist and anchor of ANC’s “The World Tonight,” is dead, ABS-CBN News reported on Thursday, April 5, 2012.

Castro, who passed away at 67 years old, had a long courageous fight against lung cancer. ANC reported that Castro died at the St. Lukes Medical Center. His wife June Keithly is also stricken with cancer (See related article HERE!), son Diego, and other family members were reportedly beside him.

ANC has released the following statement and video regarding the death of Angelo Castro Jr.

RIP: Veteran actor Luis Gonzales!

Veteran actor Luis Gonzales passed away Thursday night.

He died Thursday night at Makati Medical Center after suffering from pneumonia.

The actor’s remains will be brought to Loyola Chapel. The cremation is set anytime today (Friday).

Gonzales was known for being the long-time on-screen partner of Gloria Romero.

Rest In Peace: Singer-composer Bodjie Dasig died!

Such a sad day for local music industry, another musician died a few hours after reports about the passing of rock icon Karl Roy surfaced, now famous Pinoy singer-composerBodjie Dasig (Darius Delphin Dasig) reportedly dies in the U.S. also today (March 13 in Manila).

Dasig, who used to be the lead vocal of now defunct band Bodie’s Law of Gravity, became famous with his hit “Sana Dalawa ang Puso Ko” in 1993. The song won Record of the Year, Best Ballad and Best Performance by a Group at the Awit Awards.

He is survived by his wife – also a known singer-composer Odette Quesada.

Former Malabon Vice Mayor Arnold Vicencio died in a motorcycle accident!

Former Malabon City Vice Mayor Arnold Vicencio, 41, died in a motorcycle accident at the South Luzon Expressway (SLEX) portion of Muntinlupa City last Sunday, March 11.

Vicencio was then brought at the Asian Hospital in Muntinlupa City where he pronounced dead due to head wounds and other traumatic injuries in various parts of his body while his riding companion Rolando Esturias is still recuperating at the same hospital.

According to a report from SLEX traffic personnel, Vicencio and Esturias, were on board a blue 700cc Honda State motorcycle (P1-1573) and were running along Kilometer 20 of the SLEX when a black car appeared out of nowhere and sideswiped them, causing them to flip several meters away from the bike and suffered massive injuries.
